On April 29th, 2016, ADC hosted a successful fundraising dinner at the Polish Cultural Center in St. Louis. Deemed the Heritage Fundraising Dinner, the event featured a full dinner, intermedia presentations, remarks from diverse groups of community leaders, and a live jazz performance. The fundraiser was hosted to benefit the construction of the African Diaspora Cultural Center in St. Louis.
ADC members and event attendees rose to the challenge posed by the fundraiser's main theme: "Invest in our Legacy". Attendees left the event feeling inspired and empowered, and have continued to send in their pledges on the days following the event.
During the event, ADC unveiled the site for the construction of the new African Diaspora Cultural Center. The African Diaspora Cultural Center will occupy 7.2 acres of land and will contain both outdoor and indoor event space. The center will host authentic cultural events as well as high profile international meetings and conferences, playing a vital role in the revitalization of the St. Louis Community. It will also serve as ADC’s headquarters, hosting ESL, immigration advocacy and counseling, and health resource referral services for members, and showcasing authentic African culture and cuisine.
Fundraising totals will be released once all donations have been collected. Pictures from the event will be available on our social media pages, and on the Gallery section of our website.
ADC will announce the second round fundraiser in the coming months.
